The architect met with their cost consultant, Daedalus and established cost targets and a cost model . Ian will be reviewing it over the next few days. Subconsultants- last weeks subcommittee meeting approved Tams and Beacon Construction . The invitation process for sewage treatment review may have been flawed and they will go out for proposal again . They will ask for sealed bids . SMMA was asked to provide their subconsultants for approval . Bob prepared a letter listing 4 consultants which are different from what was in their proposal : Chiles will do the teach programming , Daedulas as cost estimators, DeFao, Wait and Pare - STP design , BSS for land survey (were identified as landscape architects) and Richard Foster was listed as project manager, he will coordinate regulatory agencies . Ian explained SMMA has been requested to provide a fee proposal for a detailed Schematic Design estimate . The estimate is for $8,800 from Daedulas . Ian feels the fee is reasonable and the estimate is essential to have. Bob said it is better to have a detailed cost estimate up front. * Joe made a motion to expand SMMA ' s scope of services to provide a schematic cost estimate for a fee not to exceed $8 , 800 . Janice seconded the motion . All members were in favor 7-0 . ** Sill Jones is very concerned that we need to build a cost library as soon as we can or value engineering workshop is meaningless. Furniture Fixtures and Equipment- Ian spoke with Dr. DeMoura about possible needs. At this point we can let the subcommittee develop a general outline of our needs . We may have to engage a special consultant for input. It is not included in the current scope of the architect' s contract. Bob Fournier said Manny Tavares , who they had suggested as an FF&E consultant and is consulting on food service, provided SMMA with a list of potential equipment and costs associated . The Committee can use that as a basis for starting . Merry Sue said there are 2 levels , furnishing and technology . We want someone to show us 21st century furnishings . Steve said equipping the middle school was the most difficult part of the process and they worked with the architect. For technology , the subcommittee can come up with a very flexible system to accommodate anything . Dr. DeMoura, Merry Sue Ahlgren and Janice Mills will be on the furnishings subcommittee . Steve Greelish , Michael Pare and Mike Peitrowski on the technology subcommittee . Ed Frenette said they will need a definitive list half way through the design development phase -July 15-21st. Peter asked about spending money on built-ins? Ed Frenette said built-ins can be part of the furnishing budget. You want co know what your building will cost before you commit to it.
