Mr. Greelish said the motion was based on the firms being able to
attend .
** Ms.Ahlgren made a motion to interview The Design
Partnership of Cambridge on February 8th at 6 : 00 p.m.
Bill Jones seconded the motion . All members were in
favor 7-0. **
Ms. Ahlgren suggested the Committee talk about the timetable,
going forward. When do they want to discuss all 10 architects,
the same week as the last interviews or the next week?
Mr. Griffin suggested, after this Committee has chosen their top
3 firms, those firms give a short, re-cap presentation to the
Selectmen. If the Selectmen have questions they can ask the
firms directly.
The firms cannot start work until the contract is complete, based
on past history.
Mr. Griffin stated town counsel has most of the contract
completed. The fee is the remaining issue and a clear scope of
work has to be negotiated.
Mr. Jones stated this Committee should go back and evaluate all
10 firms then present the 3 selections to the full Board of
Selectmen, in detail , how the Committee choose them, how we made
the recommendation. We should present a carefully prepared
report. It has to be a more in depth presentation. This has
become highly controversial and people are upset. This Committee
must communicate thoroughly with the Board of Selectmen.
What meetings might the Committee need? 1 to talk about the 10
firms, then another meeting to try to vote, 1 meeting to make a
presentation to the Selectmen, another meeting to have the 3 top
firms back with short presentations.
Mr. Griffin suggested first this Committee must rank order their
top 3 then invite them to a joint meeting with the Board of
Selectmen so the architectural firms can make a short
presentation and answer questions.
Mr. Dinizio suggested , after interviewing all 10 firms, the
Committee may want to do site visits. This could take a long
time.
Schedule:
Tuesday, Feb. 1 - 2 interviews
Tuesday, Feb. 8 - 2 interviews
Monday , Feb. 14 - discuss the 10 firms. Everyone should give
thought to their top 3-4 firms and why they are their top
choices.
Al Polsi commented on his observations from the Selectmen's
meeting of the prior evening. A lot of parents went, they were
very vocal and tried to pressure the Selectmen to change their
7
