Symphony uses it. He suggested it be studied carefully; he believes it is
the lowest cost, highest quality auditorium. The treatment is almost none.
(Peter Dinizio left the meeting) .
Janice asked they keep in mind that Mashpee has no other theater in any of
the other schools, this has to be perfect. There is a lot of expertise at
this table. She likes Bob's idea of how to go about it - including the
Committee in the beginning is a safe step.
PROJECT MANAGER REPORT
2. Contracts - Tom Wren spoke with Town Counsel and some items have been
returned to them for answers - insurance and bonding. Town Counsel said a
bonus clause is not required.
Paul explained he attended a meeting in Chartwell 's office with SMMA,
Beacon and Tams to discuss the schedule. The schedule now shows bids will
be received Friday, March 16th, the Committee will meet Saturday , March
18th to discuss any issues with the bids, Monday March 20 the Selectmen
will award the job, Tuesday the 21st the contractor will sign the contract,
bonds submitted March 24th. They all realize this is a very tight
schedule.
7 . Schedule - Bob suggested next Tuesday's meeting (Oct 25 ) will be a long
meeting and they should make arrangements for food to be brought in.
Paul said to help move that meeting along, this Saturday Chartwell will
bring documents for the Committee to review to Paul 's house and Committee
members can pick them up. It is very important they review them before
Tuesday's meeting. It will also help the meeting to have time allotments
to the debates, unless the group decides to continue the debate.
Steve said he has to be in California that day but will review the
documents Saturday and get any comments to Paul by Tuesday.
Paul asked the Committee to focus on the important issues.
Merry Sue said the Committee needs to know what issues cannot be tabled,
which decisions need to be made.
Paul said at his stage, if we' re over budget, the Committee has to
concentrate on ways to get that number down or eliminating sections of the
project will be the only other alternative.
Bob said if they can reach consensus at next week's meeting, SMMA will
have 1 week to revise the documents and start contract documents on Oct.
31st and conclude on Feb 8th.
They have decided that doing early site prep work, all the clearing and
grubbing will save some time. That is a 6 week process.
Steve asked about the cut and fill?
That will be done by the general contractor.
Greg Taylor said Trudy Cox, Secretary of Environmental Affairs wants an
Environment Impact Report done for this project.
Bob said Ms. Cox defined the scope specifically:
Wastewater, geohydro study, drainage, traffic, open space issue (consensus
be reached on river bed area) , archeological study.
The archeological consultant has received a permit from the Sate and
expects to start work Monday or Tuesday of next week. They can work around
5
