Video format is now being converted to digital - for flexibility and capability. Mike has done a lot of research in this area. The system has to have flexibility for the future. Paul said he met with Tavares, the proposed furniture and equipment consultant. His budget for Mashpee, to meet the technology of the future- $5 million. The technology is like a sponge. To what point do you prepare for the future. Mike said digital will be the format for the next 20 years. $5 million sounds excessively high. Paul asked Mike, when meeting with the technology consultant, to ask him to give us the best system for the year 2000. It will probably be over budget. The Committee then has to decide which items will become obsolete first. Mike Pietrowski and Steve have to meet to brainstorm these issues. Paul said technology is coming on faster than staff - end users - can learn to use them. Mike said the Synergy system is user friendly, is used for computer, telephone, alarms, etc. Mike asked if the telecommunication system has be selected yet? No, nothing has been decided upon yet. 6
