entry . Kitchen Equipment, Response from Canteen. Tom Wren received an answer from Canteen , they recommend the existing equipment in the Middle School could be incorporated into the new kitchen . The space should be provided for. However, SMMA questions whether that equipment exists. Dr. DeMoura said he knows the school does not now have a pass through refrigerator. Paul asked Tom to resolve this . Ask them if that equipment is needed for a central kitchen , If it is, then we design for it. Furniture Fittings and Equipment: Report on Recent Meeting . Paul explained to SMMA that the members present at that meeting were concerned they did not have current plans and about shifting of rooms . Phil said he has work in progress plans tonight and will leave them with Dr. DeMoura. He explained they had a 4 hour, very productive meeting . At that time he and Manny Tavares made suggestions for the art and music areas but the Committee did not feel they were appropriate. They made minor modifications to three rooms: kiln , darkroom and storage and took out 1 office. They changed the administration area which they are working on and it does not yet appear on the plan . Science rooms have a different configuration of casework and they will present that to the Committee as soon as possible. They are not doing anything independent of the Committee . Dr. DeMoura said there will be a cost savings associated with the changes to the science area - reduction of some sinks , fume hoods, reduced the amount of gas piping and jets. Steve said he met at SMMA's office on Friday with Cavanaugh Tocci , acoustical consultant. They went over many of the original questions raised about the acoustics . They presented sketches of how to control acoustics and they were very cost effective approaches. They addressed the concerns about the use of a central core speaker system in the auditorium. They showed Steve an initial plot of sound pressure levels in seating areas and satisfied him there will be good, even sound distribution . They have done an impressive job and acoustically the auditorium is in good shape. The auditorium has a double wall system that will eliminate the 6
