MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> TUESDAY , AUGUST 2 , 1994 <br /> TOWN HALL <br /> Members Present : Peter Dinizio, Merry Sue Ahlgren , Joe Polito, Janice <br /> Mills , Paul Griffin , Bill Martiros , Steve Greelish <br /> Also Present : Tony Esteves , Ian Aitchison , Dr . DeMoura, Ray Bordwell , Ed <br /> Frenette , Bob Fournier , Dan Solien <br /> Meeting convened at 3 : 35 p .m. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> - ltr from SMMA re : site and building model estimate - $9 , 000 total . Paul <br /> and Joe agreed it is well worth it . It gives you a whole different view of <br /> the project. <br /> - SMMA response to design questions form the furniture subcommittee . <br /> - Bid from Tavares Design to study the impact of making the high school <br /> the central kitchen for the school system. <br /> ** Paul made a motion to accept the $700 . 00 bid from Tavares Design to <br /> study the impact of making one central kitchen at the high school <br /> for the Mashpee school system and authorize SMMA to enter into a <br /> contract for these services . Joe seconded the motion . <br /> Paul explained Canteen (food service contractor) says it will save the town <br /> some operating expense . We have to see the impact to the High School . <br /> ** All members were in favor** <br /> The Committee will send SMMA a letter requesting they retain these services <br /> from Tavares. <br /> - ltr to Dr . DeMoura from Joel Seley . The Committee passed it on to Dr' . <br /> DeMoura. <br /> - hydrogeologic assessment for the wastewater treatment plant . Paul will <br /> review it . <br /> - ltr from SMMA explaining the qualifications needed for the person who <br /> will operate the waste water treatment plant . <br /> - Peter and Paul will be meeting with Tom Cahir and Henri Raushenbach next <br /> Friday about getting the treatment plant reimbursed outside of the formula. <br /> - ltr from SMMA re : pool construction . They estimate it to cost about <br /> $1 , 350 ,000 as shown is spec A and $1 , 450 , 000 as shown in spec B. It will <br /> also add about $10 , 000 to the treatment plant. <br /> ** Paul made a motion to table this discussion for about a month . <br /> Merry Sue seconded the motion . ** <br /> Merry Sue asked if the Committee plans to put this on the Oct . town meeting <br /> warrant? <br /> Peter suggested the Committee wait until the spring town meeting when the <br /> bids have come in and all the facts will be known . <br /> Paul will study the facts a little more and come back in about one month <br /> with more information and the Committee can discuss it then . <br /> Bill said the operating costs should be a part of that report, they are as <br /> important as the construction costs . <br /> ** All members were in favor of the motion . ** <br /> - Draft Committee handbook from Bob Whritencur for members to review and <br /> make comments. <br /> 1 <br />
