motion . All members were in favor . **
High Tech/Equipment Subcommittee- Michael Pare and Steve Greelish
None of the equipment has been speced yet. The first which needs to be
done is that which will effect the structure of the building .
Michael spoke with Childs today . The scope of their work will have to be
changed . Most of what he was going to provide this subcommittee already
has in mind . His greatest help will be to Dr . Demoura in software
consulting , training staff to use technology . Michael will have to meet
with Dr . DeMoura first .
Childs already has a contract with SMMA but nothing has been spent yet , he
agrees to be cooperative .
Paul asked if Childs has the talent to meet our needs?
Michael said we could get some other ideas from him. He is not convinced
Childs is strong on the technology side.
Peter asked if Childs does programming , are there any other professional
services we will need to complete the job?
Michael said SMMA is not contracted to specify anything for the building
( re : high tech ) . They will need assistance in putting together the bid
documents.
Paul suggested formulating a written plan to get us to the hardware stage .
He said under SMMA ' s contract, we tell them how many pieces of equipment we
want and they provide the necessary backup/support. They hired a consultant
to tell them what they need for physical plant support- lighting , power ,
raceways .
Peter suggested coming up with a flow plan , how the work will progress and
specify each person ' s duties .
Paul said there are definitely some grey areas .
Ian will talk with Bob Fournier to find out what they are doing and what
they think they should be doing .
Mike said the building will need 2 telecommunications closets that are not
in the floor plan now . It will have equipment in it . There needs to be 2
separate locations on the first floor.
Janice said the architects have interchanged some rooms which make a
difference . Everyone should go over the plans.
Paul said the Committee has not signed off on the floor plan yet.
Dr. DeMoura agreed it would be valuable for everyone to have copies and
review it.
Ian will arrange for everyone to get a set of plans , smaller then what the
subcommittee is using .
He will also get word to SMMA that Michael has a problem with the
electrical closets so they can be prepared for next week .
Merry Sue would like to talk about the building next week , not the budget .
Paul said after reviewing the value management information , SMMA agreed
upon cuts and the Committee ' s agreed upon cuts , he thinks there is about a
6
