is it worth it?
Steve said to run the plant under capacity costs more . At 15 , 000 gallons
it will run more efficiently .
Ian asked about the time frame for getting a variance?
Steve feels the DEP will give a commitment on the size of the plant within
3 months .
Steve said at the meeting with DEP, they said the Town ' s engineering
representative told DEP the town would be going for a 25 , 000 gallon plant.
Peter asked the Committee if they want to stay with the present consultants
or ask SMMA to change consultants?
Bob Fournier said they have thought about it and suggest keeping them on .
SMMA and the Town have invested a lot in them, they have done the
calculations, have done the field investigation and the sella investigation
and are ready to take the next step for whatever size plant the Committee
directs . Mark Pare has said he will 'build whatever size plan- the
Committee wants and will support it before the DEP based or the information
the Committee generates .
Steve said they are a good engineering team bur he was s': `prised at the
comments from DEP . He is concerned they are delivering =, different
messages .
Paul suggested they come to the next meeting and let there convince the
Committee they should be part of the team, Presently 'we ar-e getting mixed
signals . This way they will be on record . If SMMA wants to get a black eye
over a consultant, then they have to deal with that. This could be a big
flaw in a beautiful school . the Committee needs to be -on`.'i nced he Vii i l
wort( on our behalf .
Bill , Merry Sue and Joan agreed they should speak to the Committee and
address the concerns . Steve agreed they deserve a chance .
Peter said he does not have 1000,6 confidence that Mark Pare ' s con,:ersations
with DEP are in the town ' s best interest .
Ed Frenette recommended the Committee listen to them. He asked if however ,
things are so sour now that now matter how well they perform it can ' t be
resolved?
Peter said the Committee will listen to them; they are not ready to make a
decision .
** Paul made a motion to ask the engineering firm of DeFao wait and
Pare to design a 15 , 000 gallon per day sewage treatment plant but
the building be sized to house the larger facility . Merry Sue
seconded the motion . All members in favor . **
Steve would like them to discuss with the Committee the treaument train
alternatives and there capital costs vs . operating costs . Bob Fournier
will ask him to be prepared to discuss that.
PROJECT MANAGER REPORT
ont:u.-tS .
