Bob Barthelmes , Project Manager was present . He said he has worked on over
12 schools , most in the same size range as this one . The clearing
operation will be completed middle to end of next week. Within 1 1/2 weeks
they will strip loam in areas of grade changes . 270 feet of footing will
be placed tomorrow. The original schedule called for over 200 ft per day
but they will be doing 250 feet per day.
The trailers are on site now, with phones , faxes . They are waiting for
copiers . They are talking about adding security measures because the
trailers were broken into last night .
Peter suggested they coordinate with the Chief of Police , maybe they can
start patrolling the site at night .
Jim Byrne said the Superintendent met with the Police and Fire Chief and
asked for patrolling . Unfortunately, they are required to put a gate up ,
which tends to keep police out but it will also prevent large equipment
from being removed .
Stone will fence in the trailers and have that area lit .
Mr. Barthelmes asked that if anyone comes on the site , they check in with
the superintendent on site . They do not want anyone to get hurt . Paul said
the Committee supports that 100%.
Janice suggested a sign saying that be posted.
Paul said visits to the site should be limited to officials of the town,
others should make a request of this Committee .
Mr. Barthelmes said a hard hat and proper footwear are requirements on site
and he suggests wearing pants .
Paul suggested Jim Byrne write a memo of those requirements and give it to
Bob Whritenour to circulate .
Paul explained the Committee is concerned the schedule has slipped from the
60 day schedule . The Committee wants reassurances that it won' t slip
further. The town needs this building open in Sept . 1996 .
Mr. Barthelmes said Stone needs to have the building finished also .
The structural steel is scheduled to be placed in mid September and there
is no question they will meet that .
Paul asked if there were full time staff from Stone on the job now?
Mr. Barthelmes said there are , he is there 3-4 days per week. The project
superintendent is there every day.
Bill Hauck, Building Inspector discussed with the contractor procedures for
him to track what is happening .
( Paul told Mr . Barthelmes that the building department is very cooperative
but it is a small department , the more time they can give hem the better
, off they will be .
Ili Tom Wren gave Committee members an updated preliminary 60 day schedule . He
has asked the contractor to show work which was done the previous month,
work to be done in the upcoming month, to be extracted from the CPM , in a
bar chart form.
Paul said it looks like there has been clean clearing in some parts of the
2
