** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for their
approval an addition to SMM.A' s contract in the amount of
$96 , 250 to contract with CCR and their associated vendors
to complete the third phase of technology- consulting .
Peter seconded the motion . All members were in favor 7-0 .
Joel will talk to CCR about the change .
VALUE ADD LIST
Automatic light switches in the classroom: Joel said they have no
objection to recommending the change .
Paul explained the issue , presently there is a "smart" control
panel which is a good system but works best in large sections of
the building , like the auditorium, gym et . There are 3
classrooms on a circuit (per panel ) . The advantage to the
sensors is you have control over 1 classroom; if there is no one
in the classroom, the lights go out .
He is concerned that the sophistication of the smart panels is
more than that of the typical maintenance person . If you have a
lot of changes , because of changes in school hours and use , they
will probably throw on the over ride and you defeat the purpose
of the energy savings .
Peter said there will be a full time technology person at the
school .
Janice does not envision that person being in charge of the
lights .
Merry Sue agreed , schools often change the way they are used and
the panels would probably= be set for the max and left there . It
would defeat the purpose .
Steve said the HVAC system will also require this level of care
and someone has to do it .
Paul said the HVAC system can be dialed in, and it is done . For
the lights , someone has to go to each control panel and program
it , and it is not that easy.
Steve thinks it is possible to hook them together .
Joel can look into that .
Peter said there will be an electronic security system, who will
be responsible for that?
Paul said the technology coordinator can be responsible for that
but to go to each panel for the lights is a monotonous process ,
and it is not simple .
He only thinks the change should be made if the committee thinks
there is value to it . There is no additional cost to delete the
panels and put in sensors .
He is not: sure you will get the energy management out of the
panels .
Jim said they put the sensors in the Yarmouth school and are
adding them to all the other schools that don ' t have them. It is
the simplest system.
5
a
