Paul will review it further with SMMA' s electrical engineer .
SMMA presented a fee proposal for $72 , 905 for additional services
to incorporate the additions to the project .
Paul asked SMMA , had their estimator not told the Committee the
job was $3 million high, these items wold have been in the job
( not additions ) . Why does the Committee owe them an additional
fee'
Joel explained , 13 of the items were deleted in the design
development stage , there were no contract documents developed for
them. That estimate was reviewed by SMMA, Chartwell and the
Committee and by mutual consensus agreed to . The overall figure
of $100 per sq foot was considered reasonable .
2 items were deleted at the schematic phase , which was even
earlier.
1 item was deleted as the direction of SGS ( State ) .
2 items #12 , site accessories , and #11 , food service equipment
were deleted at the contract documents stage .
Paul said he is not sure you can blame Daedulas back at the
earlier estimates . There were not many items removed from the
final phase .
Joe asked if there is any discussion to revise that figure , to
one that is not as high as $72 , 000 .
Steve said if $72 , 000 is the total , he does not object .
Merry Sue said the project is getting $1 million of changes for
$72 , 000 .
Joel reminded everyone the contract documents were manipulated to
allow them to purchase the list of alternates , they were not
deleted .
Joe asked if any conceptual work was done on these items'
Paul said the $72 , 000 is based on what it will take to get the
work done , on man hours , not sq footage .
Joel said the contract documents will have to be modified for any
work to be added.
Steve said 7% fee is average . This is a hard 7% for SMMA, there
is a lot of cut and fitting to be done .
Wren asked it this is a
Tom W is lumpsum for all the chance orders ,
is it a not to exceed figure?
Joel said the work is in direct correlation to the list of items
voted on. It is a fixed fee .
Is the auditorium seating from the FF & E budget? No is part of
the general contract , so is the kitchen equipment .
Joel explained he was asked to contact MEPA and the Cape Cod
Commission regarding issuing the additional site package early to
give the information to the contractor ( in hopes of getting the
best price ) . SMMA has asked for unit prices for clearing and
6
