If they could stress only 1 thing it would be the need for a
speaker light for the fire alarm system in each classroom.
Phil said they have already done that with an addendum.
He said there is no guarantee you will get the required decibel level in
the classroom from the corridor . They put a horn strobe in every
classroom.
(Peter left the meeting. )
Phil said all items from the peer review were respond to by SMMA; as of
2 : 00 today they were still in typing . The Committee members should have it
by Thursday.
The filed sub bids are due April 6th . They have up to 48 hours before that
for addendum.
Phil said they printed 150 sets of drawings and are out of them.
Bill asked Paul if Dodge reports had any updates on construction costs?
Paul said they don ' t have the last 6 months figures. He did speak with
Sarah Johnson who does an economic report for a local network. She said
the numbers now are reflecting the contractors adding back in for overhead
and profit which they hadn ' t done for the last 2 years . Materials are only
up 3-5% and labor up maybe 3%. The big number is the 15% overhead and
profit. Contractors now need profit to stay in business. You cannot
predict competition. With that many drawings out, it is a good indication
of the discount the project will receive but discount from what is the
question .
Phil said he met with the Building Inspector last Wednesday fron 5-9 p .m.
7
