continue to put the trailers out to bid. They have a 30 day
window after receiving bids to accept them. We will know within
that time where we stand and if they are needed.
Life safety items are still a concern, fire alarm, emergency
lighting . The academic wing will be close to complete to get the
school open on time .
Steve asked what this Committee has decided on regarding partial
occupancy?
Paul said Bill Hauck has said as long as there could be a clear
break and all life safety systems and in and there is not much
work left to do, he would consider partial occupancy.
Bill Hauck said it is a disaster to mix workmen with school
occupants . Work remaining should only be a repair here or there.
The Committee agrees .
Paul explained SMMA will do a punchlist on or about July 15th.
Stone will do their punchlist prior to that and try to correct
any items. The Committee can force Stone to work overtime if
they have made the commitment of no trailers.
Sections A,B & E will be ready for school opening . Stone has not
been given relief from their contract of substantial completion
of academic wing by July 23rd.
Alan Scott has said the entire job will be done by August 25th.
Steve said if we reach for partial occupancy, we will get
screwed.
Paul said in his opinion, the academic wing will be ready for
school opening and we won' t need trailers .
Bill Hauck said he wants separation of workmen and school people .
He suggested having a meeting with Joel , Jim and all the
inspectors before making the decision. He does not want a last
minute thing coming up.
Paul said this should be discussed again on June 1 . Right now the
job is looking impressive .
Joel will meet with inspectors on May 27th.
- Master Key: needs Dr. Demoura' s and John William' s input . Jim
will coordinate that .
- Stop work orders : have been taken down. Bill Hauck said they
were rescinded upon Joel ' s approval .
- Tenders on operation and maintenance of the STP. Elias McQuaid
and Greg Taylor met with the two candidates. They feel Weston and
Sampson is highly advantageous .
Steve said he went to great lengths to be sure he was not left
out of the loop on this issue - and he was . He wanted to talk to
the other potential operator, since he knows Weston and Sampson
well .
Paul suggested he talk with them and report back to this Committe
and the next meeting .
Tom said he spoke with Bob Whritenour, he will not award this
job, it should go to the School Department .
5
