MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COM rI TEE MINUTES
WEDNESDAY,DECEMBER 10, 1997
HIGH SCHOOL,CHARTWELL OFFICE
Present: Paul Griffin,Bill Martiros, Janice Mills, Joe Polito, Merry Sue Ahlgren
Also Present: Jim Byrne, Ian Aitchison,Dr. DeMoura,Terrie Cook, Mike Pietrowski,Michael
Home
Meeting convened at 4:12 p.m.
MINUTES
** Merry Sue made a motion to accept the minutes of October 29'". Joe seconded the
motion. All members were in favor 5-0**
Front Entry Sign: the letters have arrived and are being fastened to the plate at the welders. He
should then be able to bolt the plate and have the sign up by next week.
Paul asked about lighting at the entrance. Jim will talk to SMMA about it.
Janice said it is a dark intersection, there is a light pole but hasn't been lit.
Don Cook explained the pole on school property was hit by a car. A new pole and fixture have
been ordered.
Paul said Greg Taylor is responsible for the street lighting. Jim will write him a memo about the
Committee's concerns.
BUDGET
Jim explained the money that remains is after paying all of today's bills.
He received correspondence from Joel asking to transfer the funds for VHB to Greg Taylor.
After talking with the town accountant, she will set up a line item under the construction
account.
#18 intersection: PA Landers was the low bid for the 151 intersection work. It has gone to the
State and is awaiting the Governor's signature.
Paul explained that he will be recommending to the Committee that they take a vote of no
confidence against PA Landers and consider putting them in default because of their lack of
work on the outdoor lighting. Our attorney will then send them a letter notifying them of this
action and that we can now cash in their bond. That may get them moving. The issue is with the
electrical contractor. They are saying the manufacturer no longer has some of the parts.
Everything was available when they submitted this but they did not order it.
We are holding 5284,000.
**Paul made a motion the Committee request the Selectmen declare PA Landers in
default of their contract. Merry Sue seconded the motion. All members were in favor
5-0**
1
