n
it takes up.
Jim said that unit is not designed to go outside.
Dr. DeMoura explained this Committee had asked he take the request for 8 video disk players to
the School Committee. The School Committee would like to request approval of the purchase
of 8 video disk players, at$890 each.
**Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen request for approval for purchase of 8
video disk players. Merry Sue seconded the motion.
Paul said the Committee will forward the request but approval is out of their jurisdiction.
** All members were in favor 5-0**
Mike Pietrowski discussed the need for additional camera cables. He described the work to be
done to have full effect lighting. The big expenses is the connectors.
** Paul made a motion to approve the purchase of cabling for cameras and lighting, not
to exceed $1,400. Merry Sue seconded the motion. All members were in favor 5-0**
Mike Pietrowski also mentioned that it is very cold in his studio.
Paul said because the of the amount of lighting in that room, an air conditioner had to be put in
there. Mike said that the original lighting proposal is not what is in there now.
Paul suggested talking to the mechanical contractor about modifying the sofrivare to deal with
this - drop down on the outside air intake on an interim basis.
Don Cook will look into it.
Mike Pietrowski approached the Committee asking for consideration of payment to HB
Communication for$6,600 for the 3 days they spent here to diagnose the problem in order to get
the video system up and running. He thinks, in fairness, they should be compensated for their
time.
Paul responded that this vendor has direct responsibility to Mike Kirwin and it should be dealt
with through the consultant. If the consultant does not rule in favor of the reimbursement, it will
be denied by the State Education Dept. This is not a criticism of HB but we must use the expert
we hired to deal with these matters.
Janice asked who would have fixed this if HB did not step up to the plate? Maybe CCR should
pay for this because it was their error.
Paul said HB proceed at their own risk. We cannot hold from another vendor (by not paying
CCR) without just cause. They proceeded without authority.
Mike agreed HB took a risk because they felt it was the right thing to do. He made it clear that
he initiated this request, not HB.
Paul said this Committee has the responsibility to watch over the money for this project. He
wants to be sure everything is done properly. He will send this request to Mike Kirwin/CCR.
Mr. O'Connor from HB said he did not ask Mike to initiate this. HB is not asking the
Committee for this reimbursement.
Paul said HB has done far more than most would expect and the town appreciates all their
efforts.
Jim will have a written response from Mike Kirwin by the next meeting.
