LIBRARY
The library is available to most students during the school day. Students can use the library for school
work or for personal interest since there are tables for reading or writing, and areas for looking at or
listening to audio-visual materials. The key to finding all these materials is the computerized card
catalog in the library because it explains what the library has and where it is located. We have a self-
help policy. Use the call numbers on the catalog to find the books or materials. If confused, ask the
librarian for assistance.
Students in kindergarten and first grade are allowed to borrow one book at a time and second grade
students are allowed to borrow two. The loan period is one week and renewals are allowed. A student
who signs out any book(s) is responsible for returning it to the library. Failure to return library books
within a week after the due date will result in loss of library privileges. It is the parent's/guardian's
responsibility to locate or pay for a child's lost books.
Check out books at the desk. The librarian will assist students with the computer checkout. However,
reference books and books on reserve by one's teacher(s) can be used only in the library. Books can
be renewed again if a student has not finished reading them. Upon completion of reading the book,
return it in the Book Return Box located at the main desk. Please make an effort to return borrowed
materials as soon as possible.
OTHER PROGRAMS
During each school year, a different set of activities is offered to students. This is a time after school
when students are able to explore new interests. Some of the activities will teach useful or creative
skills, others are competitive, exciting or just plain fun.
These enrichment programs can help students develop positive interests and activities for leisure time.
They also offer a natural outlet for satisfying students'curiosity and talents.
Enrichment programs are designed to enhance life skills and esthetic appreciation. Some of the
activities that may be offered are art, physical education, health, music, library skills and science.
A parent/guardian note must be sent to the teacher if a child is attending any after- school
function.
After-School Enrichment
Sponsored by the Mashpee Leisure Services Department/Not the KC Coombs School (KCC is this
program's location) Leisure Services will be conducting many of the after-school offerings for the
Mashpee Public Schools. Minimal fees may be required for these programs. Class times will be
determined by the dismissal time of the grade levels involved. Parents must arrange to pick up students
at the end of the class time since bus service is not provided.
After-school enrichment programs may include art, music, drama, sports skills, chess, computers,
math, seasonal sports, etc.
47
