1990 SHELLFISH MAPS <br />:e <br /> The following numbers and descriptive paragraphs are for you to refer to so that you may determine the present <br /> classification status of a particular shellfishing area, or for a new area. The large number in the left margin refers <br /> n to a number on either the Popponesset Bay map or the Waquoit Bay map. The short narrative tells you where the <br /> area is and its status, as well as a detailed description of the boundary lines (for legal purposes). It is of particular <br /> e importance that you be aware of the areas designated as contamination closures and areas that are closed to receive <br />�f a transplant of contaminated shellfish. If you have any questions about the maps, please call the Shellfish j <br /> sl Department and I will help clear up any questions or problems that you may have. <br />'h Contaminated Shellfish Area - All Shellfishing is PROHIBITED in the following areas until <br /> X further notice: <br /> is Popponesset Bay <br /> Mashpee River <br />'e The waters and flats and all tributaries thereto of the Mashpee River in the Town of Mashpee, north of a f <br /> a line drawn west for a distance of 90 meters (290 feet)from the orange marker located at "Orsini Beach" to <br /> an orange marker on the west shore of the Mashpee River. <br /> 1, <br /> Santuit River/Shoestring Bay <br /> The waters and flats and tributaries thereto of Shoestring Bay and the Santuit River in the Towns of <br /> Mashpee and Barnstable north of a line drawn from the "NO SHELLFISHING" sign at the pier at the end <br /> of Simons Narrows Road in Mashpee, to the "NO SHELLFISHING" sign at the Town way to the waterit <br /> P1 off Santuit Road in Barnstable. <br /> se <br /> Seasonal Contaminated Shellfish Area - All shellfishing is PROHIBITED in the following area <br /> it. from May 1 through November 1, until further notice. <br /> i s : <br /> et Popponesset Bay El <br /> al TA <br /> Mashpee River <br /> The waters and flats and all tributaries thereto of the Mashpee River in the Town of Mashpee south of a <br /> line drawn west for a distance of 90 meters (290 feet) from the orange marker located at "Orsini Beach" <br /> er across the Mashpee River to the orange marker on the west shore, then in a southerly direction along the <br /> er high water mark to the southern tip of Punkhorn Point, then in a northeasterly direction to the southwest <br /> tip of Gooseberry Island, then across the mouth of the Mashpee River to a sign on the southern tip of <br /> Mashpee Neck, then back along the high water mark to the point of origin at the sign at Orsini Beach. <br /> r.� <br /> Management Closure Area - Closed to All Shellfishing did <br /> Popponesset Bay <br /> 3i' <br /> The waters and flats enclosed by a line drawn from the chain link fence on the beach to the east of the <br /> Mashpee Neck Boat Ramp to a white buoy with a red stripe just offshore from that fence, then along the <br /> shore in a lineparallel with and fifty feet offshore from the mean high water mark to a similar buoy in the <br /> water offshore of the property at 8 Frog Pond Close Road, then in to a sign placed at the mean high water <br /> mark of that same property, then back along the mean high water mark to the original point. <br /> �IIE <br />
