Moderator read Article 14 <br /> ARTICLE 14. To see if the Town will vote to instruct <br /> and direct the Board of Selectmen to file a Home Rule I <br /> petition to the General Court in substantially the fol- <br /> lowing form: 'o <br /> An Act authorizing the Town of Mashpee to establish <br /> a special fund for the payment of accumulated, un- <br /> used sick leave granted pursuant to the collective <br /> bargaining agreements entered into by the Town. <br /> Section 1. The Town of Mashpee is hereby au- <br /> thorized to establish a separate fund and to approp- <br /> riate in any one year an amount of money not exceed- <br /> ing one per cent of the amount raised in the preceding <br /> year by taxation of real and personal property for the <br /> purpose of funding said separate fund for the purpose . <br /> of paying accumulated, unused sick leave to town <br /> employees pursuant to collective bargaining agree- '.. <br /> ments. Any interest earned on such monies shall be <br /> added to and become part of said separate fund. �! <br /> Section 2. The Treasurer of the Town of Mashpee <br /> I <br /> shall be the custodian of such separate fund and may 51 <br /> deposit the proceeds in national banks, or invest the ;k <br /> proceeds by depositing in savings banks, cooperative "y'"''' <br /> , r ! <br /> banks or trust companies,.organized under the laws of <br /> the Commonwealth or invest the same in such sec- ; <br /> urities as are legal for the investment of funds of <br /> i <br /> savings banks under the laws of the Commonwealth, �I <br /> or in federal savings and loan associations situated in 'j" <br /> the Commonwealth. Sick leave was <br /> originally established, and I go back into the Thirties on this, 'I <br /> to care people when they are sick. If they are sick, they should <br /> be taken care of; there should be no accumulated time.
