§170-5. Water-skiing; Tubing; Kneeboarding [Amended and rewritten in 1995 to separate <br /> water-skiing from personal watercraft operations[ <br /> A. All water-skiing, tubing and kneeboarding is subject to the applicable provisions of the <br /> General Laws of the Commonwealth, as amended, and to the further restriction that no <br /> water-skiing,tubing or kneeboarding is allowed in Mashpee in or on the freshwater ponds <br /> before the hour of 10:00 a.m. and after the hour of 7:00 p.m. <br /> B. Water-skiing, tubing and kneeboarding is permitted on fresh water ponds and tidal waters <br /> of Popponesset Bay, Nantucket Sound, and Waquoit Bay subject to the following <br /> restrictions: <br /> r <br /> 1. Not within one hundred fifty(150)feet of: <br /> (a) Shoreline, except where posted as permitted <br /> (b) Swimmers <br /> (c) Watercraft underway by means other than motors <br /> (d) Watercraft not underway(for example moored or anchored) <br /> (e) Areas with posted speed limits <br /> ko <br /> (f) Commercial docking or mooring areas <br /> (g) Private docking or mooring areas } <br /> Sti i <br /> 2. Prohibited activities are: I <br /> r is <br /> (a) Starting from or stopping on shore(except where posted as permitted) <br /> (b) Drawing more than two(2)skiers <br /> (c) On tidal or salt water, water-skiing from one half (1/2) hour before <br /> sunset to one half(1/2)hour after sunrise. <br /> (d) Water-skiing, tubing, and kneeboarding or towing persons(s) in any <br /> manner on the following bodies of tidal water: <br /> (1) Great River <br /> (2) Little River <br /> (3) Santuit River <br /> (4) Mashpee River <br /> (5) Hamblin Pond <br /> (6) Jehu Pond <br /> (7) Sage Lot Pond <br /> (8) Ockway Bay <br /> (9) Shoestring Bay and Simons Narrows <br /> C. All turns shall be counter clockwise. <br /> D. Ina iti n to the o erator there shall be a competent observer at least twelve (12) ygars <br /> dd o p , <br /> of age on board to observe the person or persons being towed. <br /> E. All water-skiers, tubers, and kneeboarders shall wear a wearable Personal Flotation <br /> Device. (Type III or better; Life belts are not acceptable.) <br /> §170-6. Personal Watercraft Operation.
