procedures specified for plan reviews in Subsection 174-24.6. The <br /> home office of an author or editor, or of a'telecommuter"whose <br /> principal office is located elsewhere, is allowed by right and will not be <br /> subject to these regulations. The following shall be considered <br /> examples of home occupations permitted under this subsection: <br /> (a) Home sewing or tailoring business; <br /> (b) Studio of a painter, sculptor, photographer or similar professional <br /> artist; <br /> (c) Telephone answering service; <br /> (d) Production of crafts such as handiwork, model making, weaving, <br /> lapidary, or other similar products for the purpose of selling the <br /> product; <br /> (e) Tutoring and giving lessons, limited to four (4) students at one <br /> time; <br /> (f) Catering, home cooking and preserving for the purposes of selling <br /> the product; <br /> (g) Home office of an off-premises business such as a taxi service, <br /> hunting/fishing guide, tourist guide or similar business; <br /> (h) Computer consulting or programming; t <br /> (i) Commercial shelifishing, lobstering and aquaculture businesses. <br /> f: <br /> (2) Application procedures. Applicants shall submit an application for a <br /> Home Occupation Permit to the Building Inspector. The Building <br /> Inspector may grant a permit if it is reasonably concluded from the <br /> evidence that the proposed home occupation will meet the standards <br /> set out in Section 174-25.1.D. Staff will review the application and the <br /> applicant will be notified of the decision of the Department following <br /> the procedures specified for plan reviews in Subsection 174-24.B. The <br /> decision of the Building Inspector may be appealed to the Zoning <br /> Board of Appeals within 30 days of the notification if the applicant is <br /> aggrieved. <br /> (3) There shall be no outdoor storage of materials or equipment except <br /> that outdoor storage of materials for water-dependent uses such as <br /> lobster pots and shellfish trays may be allowed, provided that they are <br /> properly screened through fencing or landscaping so that they are not <br /> visible from off the premises. <br /> C. Conditional Home Occupations <br /> (1) Certain home occupations which involve visits to the property by <br /> persons who are not residents of the premises, which involve <br /> employees who are not residents of the premises and which otherwise <br /> conform with the requirements of this section may be conducted upon I <br /> approval of a special permit following the procedures specified for <br /> approval of special permits by the Zoning Board of Appeals in <br /> 35 <br />
