Board of Appeals November 8, 1989 Page 6.
• Richard and Miriam Coffman - Requests a Special Permit under Sections
5.1 and 6.2 of the Zoning By-laws and/or a Variance under Section 7.7
of the Land Space Requirements for permission to build an addition on
sonar tubes in an R-3 zoning district on property located at 105
Whippoorwill Circle (Map 125, Block 150) Mashpee, MA.
Members sitting: C. Hawver, M. Makunas, R. Halpern
Ms. Hawver read a letter from Mr. Coffman's attorney, Wm. Henchy,
requesting continuance to the meeting of November 29, 1989.
Mr. Halpern moved to continue to November 29, 1989 with the
condition that the members sitting would not be restricted to the
three sitting at this hearing. Mr. Makunas seconded. All agreed.
Alan Party Tent - (Owner of record: South Cape Industrial Park) -
Requests a Special Permit under Sections 6.3.G.6, 6.3.G.7, 6.3.G.9 and
6.3.H.6 of the Land Use Regulations and Section 11B.7 of the Groundwater
Protection District to allow for office and storage use for a party shop,
function equipment and rental business in an I-1 zoning district on
property located at 78 Industrial Drive (Map 88, Lot 33) Mashpee, MA.
Members sitting: C. Hawver, M. Makunas, J. Friel
Mr. Trip Mendelson represented the petition. He showed pictures of the
lot and said storage trailers had been removed. He said he had hired
• a contractor to provide plans for the interior of the building.
Mr. Boyd said he had not received any plans.
Bill Hauck, Assistant Building Inspector, informed the Board that the
building has been in use for three or four months without an occupancy
permit. He said Mr. Mendelson is applying for a trucking terminal and
for exterior storage but has not presented plans.
Elias McQuaid, health agent, said that the lot was in the Groundwater
Protection District. He said Alan had violated rules by changing oil
at the site and the washing of dishes. He said the Board had been precise
in the Special Permit to George Toomey, the builder, and asked that
very precise conditions be imposed on Alan. If there is a prospect that
Alan will have a U -Haul franchise he would request that a statement be
included prohibiting the washing of vehicles.
Mr. Mendelson said they have not been maintaining vehicles. He has had
jiffy lube companies come to the site. He said that they had not been
washing china outside since they have approval for a commercial dishwasher.
George Costa, Health Dept., asked if the new septic system was installed.
He reported a complaint last week that oil was being changed at the site
and sent a police cruiser to stop it. Mr. Mendelson said the complaint
was not directed at his company but at Alan Audio Visual.
• There was discussion of the potential of the U -Haul franchise and Mr. Makunas
asked if the agreement with U -Haul would require cleaning of trucks. He
suggested that Mr. Mendelson bring the agreement before the Board to
satisfy the members that there would not be truck washing.
