BOARD OF APPEALS <br />MINUTES <br />WEDNESDAY. :JULY':' 25. 1990 <br />• PRESENT: Michael Makunas. Edward Govonl. William Hanrahan. <br />John Friel. and Douals Boyd <br />1-I L <br />GUESTS: See attached::sJgn in sheet <br />Michael Makunas called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />William Hanrahan. Clerk of the Board read the following <br />public notice: <br />Norma Atkinson - (Owner of record: Total Transportation <br />Inc.) - Reauests a Seecia'I Permit under Sections 174-25.B.14 <br />and 175-25.E.2 of the Zonlna By-laws for permission to <br />ooerate a public club for entertainment and dancing and to <br />serve sandwiches and non-alcoholic beverages In a C-2 zonlna <br />district on oroperty located at 470 Main Street (formerly Ma <br />Glockner's Restaurant) (Mao 27, Block 21) Mashpee, Ma. <br />Nicholas Tenaalia explained that the purpose of this request <br />was to operate a club that would give people who did not <br />drink or were recoverina alcoholics a place to co for <br />entertainment. He stated they were planning to operate <br />Friday and Saturday eveninas from 8 p.m. - 1 a.m. They were <br />also looking Into the possibility of operating on Sunday <br />afternoons from 4 D.M. to 10 p.m. Thev would have a Bic <br />Band/Ballroom type dancing for 18 to 80 year olds. They <br />would have a cover charge. <br />At this time Mr. Makunas asked if anyone in attendance had <br />any comments. <br />Bill Murray of Redwood Circle expressed concern over the <br />fact that it was situated between Sandwich. Falmouth and <br />Hyannis and It would become a place where teenagers would <br />congregate. He explained that over the last few vears it <br />has become a nice residential area with small children and <br />does not feel it was the place for a club. <br />David Pommaro expressed concern with the headlights that <br />would be shining in his windows ail evening from cars <br />exiting and the club, and he to felt that it was sure to be <br />a place for teenagers to oather. <br />Nick Tenaalia stated that his experience with this type'of <br />Club was that the age 9ouD attending was between 25 and 45 <br />years of age. He also said that where there is no alcohol <br />there would not be a need for loud music. He said he would <br />
