BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 4
MINUTES
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27, 1990
1991 Liquor Licenses:
The Fisher' s General Store has applied for a renewal license
but appears to be empty as reported by Selectman Gottlieb. Kevin
Harrington will check the records and visitthe store.
The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to grant. the renewal
requests for all applicants other than Fisher' s General Store and to
notify the Obkry Trading Post of the taxes due, if their taxes are
not paid within one month, the Board of Selectmen will consider
suspention of,, thelit liquor license pursuant to the town bylaws.
Selectman Hanson seconded the motion. Selectman Lawrence has
stepped down for this hearing. Selectman Jacobson votes in favor.
The vote of approval is in favor 3-0.
7:12 p-m- Selectman Carter has arrived for the Meeting.
Concerning the liquor license fees, Selectman Hanson would like
the Board to consider this one payment due on November the 30th be
broken down into two payments or quarterly. He feels it is a bad time
of year for establishments to make the advance payment.
Memorandum from Superintendent of Schools:
In a memo from Dr. DeMoura and the School Committee to the Board
they have protested to the duplication of department efforts. Mr. Polsi
who is a member of the Fiscal Advisory Committee has recently made
overtures to area school systems relative to the tuitioning of high
school students.
Kevin Harrington has suggested the Board send a memo in response
that it is not and has never been the Selectmen' s intent to handle
negotiations for the town.
Selectman Carter feels it is time for the Board to invite the
School Committee to a meeting to get on an even footing especially
with the
budget process.
g
Selectman Lawrence feels Mr. Polsi has over stepped his bounds
and the memo should be made clear to the School Committee that it is
not the Board' s charge. Mr. Polsi should also be advised that this is
also not his charge. It can be very counter productive.
Kevin Harrington will arrange for a future meeting.
Approval of a Step Increase - Barbara Flynn:
The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the step
increase of Barbara Flynn as secretary to the Fire Department. Select-
man Hanson seconded the motion. The vote of the Board is unanimous.
Selectman Jacobson expressed interest in her evaluation. No
matter how excellent an employee is to the town, they are not perfect.
Selectman Lawrence was also impressed with the evaluation made by
Chief Ridgeway.
Field' s Point Meeting.
Selectman Carter will arrange for a meeting between Field' s
Point and the Selectmen.
