x
MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 2, 1995
MEETING COMMENCED AT 7:OOPM
Finance Committee members present: Marcia King, Chairman; Sid
Golub; Dan Goggin; Juan Bacigalupi; Tony Gallo and Alec Watt.
Please note for the record that this meeting was not taped.
Contracts
Ms. King asked the Committee's feelings about the Police Sergeants'
contract. She felt that the other two contracts had been discussed
enough. Ms. King added that she felt it was wrong to give the
sergeants an increase at this time, due to the fact, that the
increase depends on the patrolmen and their salary increases. That
contract has not been negotiated to date. The Committee agreed.
She also mentioned that the contract allows the sergeants to do 25
hours of union work.
Legal Services
Ms. King asked the Committee to make a decision regarding article
8. The Committee had received correspondence from Legal Services
for Cape Cod regarding the two services involved. Selectman Caffyn
had also prepared a document for the support of article 8. Juan
Bacigalupi Motioned to approve Article 8. Mr. Goggin seconded the
Motion and members approved unanimously.
Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Museum
Mr. Golub mentioned that, after speaking with many Native
Americans, many were not happy with the idea of the Library
controlling the museum. However, Mr. Golub felt that the Capital
Committee should have been involved with this and was not. In
fact, they had never even been approached. He also believed that
before entering a lease it should be known the financial
capabilities of who will operate the museum.
Correspondence
Ms. King received a copy of the Capital Improvement Program -
Preparation of Capital Requests, which she asked be copied for the
next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20PM. The next scheduled meeting is on
Tuesday, October 10, 1995 at 7:OOPM. Minutes were respectfully
submitted by Jean M. Mooney, Board Secretary.
