3 <br /> • Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 19, 2002 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Senior Payroll/Collections Clerk: (continued) <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cabalane to appoint Katherine Milligan <br /> to the full-time position of Senior Payroll/Collections Clerk as <br /> recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Taylor absent. <br /> Request to Fill Vacancy_ <br /> The Treasurer/Tax Collector requested the Selectmen approve the filling <br /> of the vacancy created by the above referenced appointment. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to approve the posting and <br /> advertisement of the Principal Clerk position in the Treasurer/Tax <br /> • Collector's Office, full-time 37.5 hours per week as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectmen Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Taylor absent. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Save Popponesset Bay.Inc. —Dredging Popponesset Bax <br /> Kevin Harrington, President of Popponesset Bay, Inc. and his constituents <br /> were present to address the issue of the dredging of the outer channel of <br /> Popponesset Bay with members of the Board of Selectmen,the <br /> Harbormaster and Waterways Commission. <br /> The non-profit organization represents over 150 homeowners who support <br /> the efforts of the organization to preserve and protect the waterways and <br /> beaches. <br /> The barrier beach referred to as the"Spit" is in need of immediate <br /> attention. It was noted that the organization funded the repair of the past <br /> hurricane damage with private funds. Further erosion would result in <br /> damage to estuaries and homeowners properties throughout the entire <br /> • Popponesset Bay area. <br />
