194 <br />C <br />Annual Town Meeting Warrant, March 1, 1971 (cont'd) <br />Article 34. To see if the people of the Town of Mashpee will accept <br />the following resolution: <br />Be it resolved that the Town of Mashpee at the annual Town <br />Meeting held March 1, 1971, opposes House Bill 196 author- <br />izing the licensing and taxing of exhibitions of Jai. -Alai <br />within the Commonwealth & the County of Barnstable, at which <br />Pari -Mutual System of betting shall. be permitted and to author- <br />ize the Selectmen of the Toon of Mashpee to inform the State <br />Senator and State Representatives of this resolve. ' <br />Action: Motion made and seconded that the resolution be accepted as <br />read. A unanimous vote. <br />Article 35. To see if the people of the Town of Mashpee will accept the <br />following resolution: <br />We, the citizens of the Town of Mashpee in Town Meeting assembled do <br />YA hereby declare it to be the.policy of the Town to use our assets to provide the <br />best possible ,year-round jobs and investment opportunities for our people, <br />toward the goal of raising the per capita income of the Town to equal that <br />in the rest of Massachusetts. <br />We therefore request the Planning Board to recommend changes in the by-laws <br />and other regulations that may exist so that future land uses are controlled <br />in such a way as to achieve these policies, and also we urge the Planning <br />Board to give priority consideration to: <br />1. Restricting the expansion of resort accommo- <br />dations, except in selected areas; <br />2. Ston "strip" zoning; <br />3. Provide for density zoning; <br />and also to implement these policies, we request the Selectmen to notify the , <br />Commissioners of Barnstable County that we believe it to be in the best <br />interests of our Town to attract "second" and "retirement" home owners <br />and therefore request them to appropriate 825,000 annually in matching funds <br />to be used for this purpose by an agency to be designated by them. <br />Adopted this 1st day of March 1971. <br />Action: Motion made and seconded that article be amended to read: <br />Adopted this 2nd day of March, 1971. Motion made and <br />seconded that article be accepted as amended. A unanimous <br />vote. <br />Article 36. To see if the Town will. authorize the Selectmen to contract <br />with the Cape & Vineyard Electric Company to install and maintain the following <br />street lights (standard lumens): <br />1 light Route 151 & Old Falmouth Rd. Pole #26 <br />1 light Route 151 & Algonquin Ave. Pole #33 <br />1 light Route 151 Pole #41 <br />1 light Route 151 & Brickyard Rd. Pole 38/8 <br />1 light Route 28 near Asher Path Pole 225/8 <br />1 light Peters Rd. Monomoscoy Pole #4 <br />1 light Route 130 Main St. & Hendricks Lane Pole 1/31 <br />1 light Lovells Lane Pole #714 * <br />1 light Route 130, Main St. Pole #1/9 ' <br />1 light Route 130, Main St. Pole #1/24 <br />1 light Mashpee Neck Rd. Pole 53/51A <br />Action: Motion made and seconded that article be amended to read - <br />*1 light Lovells Lane Pole #7/14 A vote. <br />Motion made and seconded that article be accepted as amended. <br />A unanimous vote. <br />
