7
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
January 23, 2017
COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE
Correspondence to County Commissioners seeking support of Cape Cod Water Collaborative
and reinstatement of Andrew Gottlieb as director:
Regarding the above referenced agenda topic of discussion, Selectman Gottlieb recused himself,
and departed the room to alleviate any potential conflict of interest. Selectman Cahalane as
Vice-Chairman presided.
The Board of Selectmen reviewed draft communication to the Office of the County
Commissioners on this date in appeal for the continued support of the Cape Cod Water
Collaborative (CCWC) and to urge the immediate re-hire of Andrew Gottlieb as the
Collaborative Director. It was noted that other Cape towns have supported the reinstatement of
Mr. Gottlieb, and it is important the Office of County Commissioners realize the Mashpee Board
of Selectmen's position on this matter. Rodney C. Collins, Town Manager expressed his support
of the Cape Cod Water Collaborative and favorable endorsement of Andrew Gottlieb as director
in a letter addressed to the Office of the County Commissioners dated January 23, 2017.
A brief discussion followed with respect to this regard. Selectman O'Hara, a newly elected
member of the Assembly of Delegates voiced concern to the verbiage used in the letter asking
for reinstatement as Mr. Gottlieb resigned from the position, and the County Commissioners
have accepted his resignation. Under the County Charter, the position of CCWC Director is
required to be re-advertised.
Motion made by Selectman Sherman to support the letter to the Office of the County
Commissioners as presented and dated January 23, 2017.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Selectman Gottlieb, absent Selectman Cahalane, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes
Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman Sherman, yes Opposed, none
