4 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 27, 2017 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS: <br /> Conservation Trails Presentation Andrew McManus Katel n Cadoret: <br /> Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent was in attendance with Katelyn Cadoret,the Assistant <br /> Conservation Agent to introduce the new online trail guide and interactive trail map on the Town's <br /> website. Ms. Cadoret indicated the Conservation Department has worked diligently with the assistance <br /> of Clay Nicholson, the GIS Coordinator to increase public awareness of the Town's beautiful <br /> conservation areas. The trail map guide allows its user to locate Mashpee's conservation lands, <br /> download and print trail maps and view videography of several flagship parcels. <br /> In the future, a comprehensive trail map of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge will be launched to <br /> promote further awareness of this property, a responsible presence and to deter prohibited activities in <br /> these areas. <br /> Ms. Cadoret indicated she has attended various workshops on methods to design trails and to divert <br /> water flow. Ms. Cadoret has participated in tree identification conferences to help educate the public <br /> and to be more informed as an agent of the town. The Conservation Department has been working <br /> extensively with Americorp volunteers and Mashpee Land Stewards on adding trail steps in areas such <br /> as the Santuit Pond Preserve, Pickerel Cove Recreation Area and Mashpee River Woodlands, The Eagle <br /> Scouts have been active in town conservation. Several projects include minimizing runoff and erosion, <br /> establishing new recreation areas for public use, and work associated to the herring runs. <br /> Recently completed project include the establishment of a new pollinator garden installed at the Santuit <br /> Pond Preserve entrance, the upgrade of kiosks at conservation site entrances and signage to improve the <br /> conservation and trail areas for enhancement and safety. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Acceptance of Resignation from the Cultural Council, Robert Mendes: <br /> Correspondence was received Dawn Thayer dated November 13, 2017 announcing the resignation of <br /> Robert Mendes from the Mashpee Cultural Council. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Sherman to accept the resignation of Robert Mendes from the <br /> Cultural Council with regrets sending a letter of appreciation to Mr. Mendes for his service. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Gottlieb. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes Opposed, none <br />
