i
r •
r
s
that he did not know if if was served. There was no certified mailer. This
was difficult to enforce because they didn't know if the gentleman got it
r was seared properly. But there were other items here. The exterior
wall appeared to be settling.
Mr. Santos asked if this wasn't the place that the siding was buckling
because the shoe and the plate had just rotted away. The sheathing of
the house was holding it up.
Mr. Harrington staated that that was correct. The middle beam that holds
up the floor was cracked and falling, They had several items.
Mr. Santos asked if Mr, wheeler gent with him.
Mr, Harrington stated that he took the assistant building inspector. H
wrote the board a letter and they would not consider it an unsafe
structure. if the board considered this a condemnable situation, which it
may be. The board meds to take a Iook at this. But, the board would be
going alone on it, which would not be a problem. There were definite
issues here. This had been this way for five or sic years,
[r. Ball wanted the board to write him a letter telling him that he could
not rent this property until the repairs are done.
Mr. Harrington stated that they couldn't do that. The problem with the
previous letter is that if he were to receive the letter. He would appeal it.
The board did not have the right to say what was rentable and what was
not. They couldn't say it was okay for the family to go in and get her. But,
they couldn't rent it to somebody and get hurt. It was not in line with the
laws and regulations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. They
could say whether it was habitable or not habitable. Or, if it was -
habitable there were violations that they could act upon individually,
which they could either cite hire for or take hires into court.
Mr. Ball suggested a re-inspection.
Mr. Harrington stated that he was in receipt of the violations. He had
thirty days to make the repairs and they could issue fines after those
thirty days.
Mr. Ball asked if the thirty days were up.
Mr. Harrington stated that he received it on 01.26-04.
Me. Bail asked if the thirty days would be up at the nett days.
