i
Attachment B:
ANNUAL REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
June 2007-May 2008
Staff Pry yarn Administration
The past year has been a challenge, but not for the usual reasons. Unfortunately, as you know
n July 1 , 2007 I was involved in a serious accident, after ► hih I spent 3 creeks in the
hospital, six weeks following at a friend's home (that was wheelchair accessible), and many
months of rehabilitation and physical therapy. Thanks to modern technology I was able to
work from the hospital and while recovering, and feel that I did a pretty good job administering
the housing authority considering my circumstances. I could not have done it without a
wonderful, supportive staff and a board that was flexible, understanding, and supportive.
Alice Eld remains my part-time executive assistant and this past year I have increased her
hours from 10 to 16 hours per week. She continues to be a professional, courteous, and
dependable employee. She was especially valuable following my accident as she coordinated i
work that was couriered to nye on a daily basis so that I could continue working while I
recuperated. I have recently started training Alice on rent calculations and annual
recertifications se that she can start relieving some of my work load as I become busier in other
areas.
Vincent Gault remains our Maintenance Laborer/superintendent, and we were lucky to be able
to offer hire full tine hours and health insurance benefits in August, as Asher's Path prepared
for occupancy. He now works between 37 and 40 hours per week between Asher's Path,
H me er tillage, and Breezy Acres. Vincent is an extremely talented, professional, courteous,
patient, conscientious, and dependable employee who is well liked by everyone.
Beth employees have had their annual evaluations done and the board conducted m
evaluation this past year as weil.
Recently vire Frere lucky to obtain Rose Marie henard, who
is working in our office 18 hours
per week through the Elder Service Senior Aide Program. This program provides part-time
work for seniors who wish to get back into the work force, at no cost to the agency (us). The i
idea is that if the volunteer works out, and our budget allows, we would hire the person (who is
currently being compensated through a grant program with Elder services). Rose has been
with us for ar couple months and is very pieasant, energetic, and professional. It is my hope
that if things continue to go well-, vire will be able to offer her a part-time job in the future.
i
In addition to staff supervision,, I continue to be responsible for the full management of our '
properties Asher's Path, Breezy Acres, and Ho eyer Village) and for administration all of the
rental assistance programs; our MRVP programs Mobile and Project Based), AHVP program,
DISH program, Chapter 667 Program Ho a er Village), Chapter 705 Program (Breezy Acres)
and the section 8 Program for a total caseload of a '
approximately 150 clients. I've managed all
p g
accounts payables and receivables and assisted in an audit done by the IRs office. I continue
to publish a monthly newsletter etter for Horneyer Village andAsher's Path residents, arrange some Y
social activities at both properties, and maintain a lending library in each of the community
rooms. I attend monthly meetings for S E A southeastem Massachusetts Executive
Directors Association), SHA Small Housing Authority Directors Organization), l ashpee
Human Services, and have been appointed to MassNAH 's Professional Development
Committee.
