7 Board of Selectmen Minutes February 11, 2002 Correspondence from Town of Framingham re: Tax Rate Rollback: Correspondence was received from the Town of Framingham dated January 30, 2002 with respect to their unanimous vote to urge the State Legislature to freeze the rollback of the State income tax rate and utilize the excess income as direct revenue to the cities and towns of the Commonwealth. Such a freeze would provide approximately $500,000,000 in annual revenue to the Commonwealth. If this were distributed per capita basis, Mashpee would receive $1,019,498. Motion made by Selectman Green to remit communication to applicable agencies urging the Legislature to freeze the rollback of the State income tax rate and utilize the excess income as direct revenue to the cities and towns of the Commonwealth as recommended. Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. VOTE: 3-1. Motion carries. Selectman Leveille in opposition. OLD BUSINESS: Cemetery Discussion: The Board of Selectmen was in receipt of recommendations from the Cemetery Commission, Cemetery Building Committee and Director of Public Works with respect to the finalization of cemetery-operations. The memorandum of their recommendations dated February 8, 2002 was thoroughly considered. An item of discussion was the request for the Selectmen to approve an RFP for the maintenance of the new cemetery only. The Selectmen requested that several issues be further clarified. It was noted that the Board of Selectmen recently adopted Rules and Regulations to ensure that the operation of both Town Cemeteries be run according to said rules and regulations. Issues to be clarified include the projected costs of maintenance for the two cemeteries. It was noted that the DPW presently assumes the maintenance responsibilities related to the Town's old cemetery located off Route 28.
