I feel that some of the statements you have made like there has been weeks on end that we haven ' t been there or like if the contractor had been cracking along, I mean, I don ' t come and tell you people how to run your business. I think some of the statements some of you people say, probably at the time you think are right . But what you say is detrimental to me , and I don' t think you should say about me or any other contractor . Just like the statements I ' v been reading about the dump. Sure it is messy at times , but they aren ' t working under the best situation either. I went down there I was suppose to dig out x amount of yards to close up the dump. We couldn ' t do that because the last guy that had the dump not the. contractor who has it now didn' t fill but three feet , we had to dig below it . I understand where you people operate, okay , you operate at face value of somebody doing something, but you can ' t do that . The statement that they are doing a lousy job up there, sure they are , they have a bad situation to work with and they are doing the best they can. " Sel . Garland: "Excuse me a minute, Madame Chairman. Are you commenting on the dump contractor? If you are commenting on the dump contractor are you a party of the contractor?" Mr. Elloian : "No, no. " 46Garland: "May I ask you to continue your remarks which we will accept * to the contract which you enjoy between you and the town. " Mr. Ellioan: "All I am saying to you is that I understand why I ran into a problem. There are problems there . If you people thought that I stuck itto you, I am sorry . The faster I get that job done the more money I was going to make. " Chm. Thomas : "Where does- it say Y in an of this literature that we would be stuck for the price? " Mr. Ellioan: "I didn' t say you were stuck with the price . I said that I in- creased the price . I stuck with the price the first two times I did it . I didn' t say you were stuck with the price . I never said that, I said I stuck with the $16 , 400 twice . There was an emergency measure, they asked me for the price and I think they got prices from four other contractors and I gave it to them, but when it went out, the town counsel went out. So when I didn ' t sign the contract the day it was suopose to be signed, okay, which was my own fault, I came up here and rectified that supposedly . The reason I didn ' t do that is because the engineer came to me on emergency measures , who are the ones that wrote down the specs . I never had anything to bid,on. All I knew was where the specs were . I typed that out on my own letterhead. That was my own letter- head. All Y am saying to you is 'that , I feel there was a misjustice , weeks on end I wasn' t there : : I mean there was not one day that there wasn ' t at least two pieces of equipment there . It is stated here that there was no equipment some days ' Chm. Thomas : "Well the equipment could be there, but was the manpower there? "
