On the memo from the Superintendent of Streets for a step increase <br /> for his secretary; Sel.. Garland moved that the Board accept the <br /> recommendations of Ernest Virgilio, Superintendent of Streets , , con' <br /> cerning an increase from step 2 to step- 3. of his administrative <br /> secretary, Helen Green. Seconded by Sel.. Hanson. Chm. Thomas said, <br /> "this - is a unanimous vote .' <br /> I _ <br /> 3. Sel. Garland moved that. the Board accept the recommendations f the <br /> Superintendent of Streets regarding ' a step increase for members of <br /> his department, namely 13 -members of his depa.rtmeht. Sel. Hanson <br /> seconded. chm. Thomas said, "This is a unanimous vote . <br /> Town Counsel questioned if these step increa es should have a date . <br /> Board informed Town Counsel that they are all retroactive, Executive <br /> Secretary said that- December 17, was for Helen, and July 1, for the <br /> i Highway Department. <br /> . Executive Secretary recommended a step increase for Mr. Raymond <br /> Martini,. retroactive to July 1, 1982 . . chm., Thomas asked if we had <br /> the money for this . ' on the letter from the Tribal Council pertaining to the Work Experience <br /> Program, Sel. Hanson read the letter out loud, chm, Thomas asked <br /> Executive Secretary to explain the first approach- that the Tribal <br /> Council made and that the Board didn' t have funds for. Executive <br /> Secretary said- that it was a different type ofprogram- under CETA, <br /> in which the Town would be paying 'approximately half -of the salary <br /> and the Federal Government would be paying the other half. Be -said <br /> the Board responded that they didn' t have - the- money to pay salaries <br /> under that program. He also suggested that the Board refer- this new <br /> i program to his office and he- would consult the- various department <br /> heads and that may! be some would b able. to use people , Sial, Garland <br /> moved that this Board refer this natter to the Executive Secretary <br /> and he be given the sole responsibility of determining whether or <br /> not we can avail ourselves of one or more of these people who have <br /> been offered by .the Tribal council. .
