Board of Selectmen
Minutes
May 10, 2010
APPOINTMMNTS AND HEARING&
5
Board of UbMa Trustees: (continued)
It was noted the use of volunteers from the senior tax abatement program
has been successful. There has also been additional volunteer enthusiasm.
To date, there are 45 new volunteers. The figure includes the 8 seniors
from the tax abatement program. However, 'in support of additional
staffing needs, the Library Director indicated the task of the librarians
requires more skilled support bound by confidentiality.
With regards to the job requirements of the Library staff, the Trustees
asked to obtain more training. In response, Planning& Construction
Committee member Steve Cooly indicated he would discuss this concern
with the project manufacturers when he-is aware of the specific guests
for training. It was also disclosed the Director of Public Worts and
Facilities Manager have had extensive training on the mechanical issues
and could possibly provide assistance to the.Library personnel.
Steve Cooly added the photovoltaic system has been inspected and the
solar incentive rebate is forthcoming. It was suggested the Library Board
of Trustees ensure the close-out of the Friends of MPL1 account. Also of
particular note, the Library project has received LEED certification with
respect to energy and design efficiencies and now is qualified for gold
recognition status.
It was agreed that communication is the key and all matters should be
referred directly to the Town hanger.
