9. Makes periodic contact with representatives of the Massachusetts Division of Marine <br /> Fisheries, Barnstable County and other agencies, including the Barnstable County Shellfish <br /> Advisory Committee. <br /> 10. Directs and coordinates all staff assigned to the Department of Natural Resources. <br /> 11. Exercises substantial independent judgment and initiative to deliver competent and <br /> -professional services within his/her department. <br /> 12. Ensures that all staff assigned to the Department of Natural Resources are properly <br /> trained and equipped., consistent with acceptable and professional standards, and within <br /> operational-budget. <br /> 13.'Dire,cts and coordinates the schedules., assignments, and deployment of all department <br /> staff. <br /> 14. Ensures that all staff assigned to the Department of Natural Resources are performing <br /> their duties, essential functions and responsibilities. Ensures nsures that deviations in such <br /> performance are corrected through appropriate remedial action and/or disciplinary <br /> actions recommended to the Town Manager. Reports any on-the-job injuries to the Town <br /> Manager in a timely manner. Ensures that staff is impartially and accurately evaluated in <br /> terms of performance. <br /> 15. Ensures that assigned facilities, offices, vehicles, and boats are maintained in a neat and <br /> orderly manner. Ensures that boats are properly registered and/or inspected within <br /> proper authority. Ensures that vehicles and boats are operated with proper care. Ensures <br /> that vehicles and boats receive timely service and/or maintenance. Reports any accidents <br /> or damage to vehicles or boats to the Town Manager in a� timely manner. Reports <br /> inadequacies of vehicles or boats to the Town Manager. Plans, directs, coordinates, and <br /> executes the proper launching, docking,, maintenance, removal, and storage of all <br /> waterway vessels owned by the Town. <br /> 16. Ensures that all department staff wear the proper and authorized uniforms or attire as <br /> required. <br /> 17. Directs and coordinates Harbormaster patrols for public safety, and the enforcement of <br /> state and local waterway 'laws and regulations., including boating and areas closed to <br /> shellfishing. Issues verbal or written warnings and citations to violators. Responsible for <br /> assisting boaters in distress. Ensures that appropriate areas are checked for <br /> environmental law violations. Ensures that waterways and wetlands are protected'to the <br /> best of his/her abilities. <br /> 18. Assists in the maintenance of Town-owned waterways, access areas/landings and <br /> beaches,to enforce state laws or Town bylaws and other regulations. <br /> 19.-Directs and coordinates the acquisition, installation, removal, maintenance, and storage <br /> of aids to navigation, shellfishing and related infrastructure. <br />
