104 <br />3. New Palisades #17 Ceylon Saphire draperies with <br />millium lining completely fireproof treated were in- <br />stalled in the cafetorium. <br />4. Fluorescent light fixtures were installed in the <br />four classrooms, principal's office, teachers' room <br />and main corridor of the original Samuel G. Davis <br />School. <br />5. New window shades were installed throughout the <br />original Samuel G. Davis School. <br />6. Old fire brick was removed and new installed in the <br />boilers. <br />7. Shrubs were planted near the entrance of the <br />school. <br />Our seventh and eighth grade pupils are very happy at- <br />tending the Barnstable Junior High School and they are be- <br />ing provided with an excellent education second to none. On <br />behalf of the Mashpee School Committee, Administration and <br />Townspeople, I extend thanks and appreciation to the Barn- <br />stable School Committee, Superintendent Harvard H. Broad- <br />bent, Principal John C. Linehan and teachers for making all <br />this possible for the Mashpee boys and girls. <br />Additional bus transportation was provided with the <br />opening of school in September upon recommendation of your <br />Superintendent of Schools to the School Committee to care <br />for the educational needs of our young people attending <br />schools in Barnstable and Falmouth. Many of the pupils <br />remain after school for extra subject matter help and others <br />to participate in athletic events. They are met at the Town <br />line and transported to their respective homes four after- <br />noons each week. <br />In conclusion, I refer ,you to Principal Kenneth Coombs' <br />report and I thank the School Committee, School Personnel, <br />Town Officials, and Townspeople for helping me to build A <br />strong school system for Mashpee. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />CLAYTON E.
