39
Report of the Library Trustees
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
We are greatly pleased to report that we are well on our
way to having, once again, a library in our township.
We realize that it is one of the most important factors
in a town. The library is a perfect example of democracy
and of the American ideal of equal opportunity for all. A
librarian once wrote, "The library is the last stronghold of
Democracry and it is the one institution that serves the
individual."
We wish to thank all who have donated books. Individ-
uals from surrounding towns have donated books as well as
our good people from in town. We, too, are greatly thankful
to the Sandwich and Cotuit Libraries for sharing their extra
copies with us.
We wish to close this brief report with this thought to
keep in mind: if there are any who wish to share their books
or donate books to the library they may do so by contacting
the Samuel G. Davis School for storage, or they may desire
to place something as a memoriam in our future library;
they may do so by contacting a member of the library trus-
tees.
Respectfully submitted,
ALICE J. HICKS
AUREE AVANT
SELENA COOMBS, Chairman,
Library Trustees
