N 8_ Like , other schools, we have a certain number of pupils in the intermediate grades whose reading abil- ity is below the fourth grade. These pupils are placed in a separate class for remedial instruction. We have put a lot of, thought into the program, and from time to time as we evaluate the results, I shall make other reports to you as to the success of our program. Highlights of 1965 In our multi-purpose room, we enjoyed several motion pictures and other school assemblies. The most enjoyable was the special concert of the Sandwich Shawme Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Gregg. Especially grateful are we to Col. Eugene S. Clark, of Sandwich for his famous illustrated lectures on "Shore Life of Cape Cod." Over one hundred parents and friends enjoyed a special May Day pageant and program highlighted by the crowning of fifth grader, Bette Oakley as Queen of May. Entertainment included a rendition of "Do Re Mi" by the first graders. "A Little Dutch Dance" by the second graders, a folk dance by the "Wandering Minstrels" and a March by the third graders, in honor of the Queen. Grade four enter- tained with another folk dance and the Davis School Acro- bats preceded the placing of the Maypole. The Maypole dance and recessional concluded the program, one of our finest Performances of the year. During the year field trips included visits to: Benson's Animal Farm, the Boston Science Museum, Plymouth Plan- tations, and the Cape Cod Candle factory in Hyannis. Much to the delight of both pupils and teachers, "Open House" during American Education Week was well attended by large numbers of parents and friends. Recent reports from the principals of Barnstable Junior High, and Lawrence High School in Falmouth indicate that our graduates are doing commendable work in the classroom and in extra -curricular activities. Our hats off to: Gregory Anderson, Joseph Peters, El- wood Mills, Jr., Lamont Gouveia, and Clyde Peters as leaders
