47 <br /> (b) Every permanent employee shall be entitled to these <br /> designated holidays on the following terms: <br /> 1. If paid on an hourly basis, he shall receive one day's <br /> pay at his regular rate based on the number of hours worked <br /> on the day on which the designated holiday occurs. <br /> 2. If paid on a weekly, semi-monthly or monthly basis, <br /> he shall be granted each designated holiday without loss in <br /> pay, provided the employee has worked his last scheduled <br /> work day before the holiday and his first scheduled day <br /> after the holiday, or has been excused by the appropriate <br /> authority, or has an acceptable excuse for which the appro- <br /> priate superior shall require proof. Such incidences shall <br /> be reported to the Personnel Board in writing. <br /> VACATION POLICY <br /> All regular employees including Police and Fire Depart- <br /> ments shall be entitled to vacation as follows: <br /> (a) One week's vacation with one full year of employment; <br /> less than one year vacation shall be pro-rated. <br /> (b) Two weeks after two years of service; non pro-rated. <br /> (c) Three weeks after ten years of service; non pro-rated. <br /> (d) Employees who are eligible for vacation under these <br /> rules and whose services are terminated by dismissal through <br /> no fault or delinquency of their own, or by retirement or by <br /> entrance into the armed forces, shall be paid an amount <br /> equal to the vacation allowance earned in the vacation year <br /> during which such dismissal, retirement or entrance into the <br /> armed forces occurred up to the time of the employee's separ- <br /> ation from the payroll. An employee shall be granted an ad- <br /> ditional day of vacation or a day's pay at the Department <br /> Head's discretion if, while on vacation leave, a designated <br /> holiday occurs which falls on or is legally observed on Mon- <br /> day, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. <br /> (e) Vacation allowances provided under the terms of this <br /> section must be taken before December 31st of the calendar <br /> year earned. Such vacations shall be granted by the head <br /> of the respective department of the Town at such time as <br /> in his opinion will cause the least interference with the per- <br /> formance of the regular work of the Town. <br /> SICK LEAVE <br /> (a) A regular employee shall be allowed fifteen (15) days <br /> leave with pay each calendar year or one and one-quarter <br /> (11/4) days for each month thereof, provided such leave is <br /> caused by sickness or injury or by exposure to contagious <br /> disease. <br /> p <br /> x <br />
