k <br /> 57 <br /> Annual Report of the Parks <br /> and Recreation Commission <br /> , I <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the <br /> Citizens of the Town of Mashpee, Mass. <br /> The Park and Recreation Commission are pleased to in- <br /> form you that during 1969 many activities were sponsored I <br /> by this department. <br /> Roller skating has been held each month for children of <br /> all ages and teenagers, adults. Volley ball has been a great <br /> sport among the young adults and has been played weekly at <br /> the town hall. Basketball played among the boys of all ages. _ I <br /> It is most pleasing to say that we have all types of equip- <br /> ment for the children's use of indoor sports. <br /> The Falmouth S.A.V.E. program offered a SAVE pro- <br /> gram for the Mashpee children ages 10-14. This program ran <br /> from July 21st through August 21. It was pan education pro- <br /> gram offered each morning at the town hall from 9 a.m. to <br /> 12 noon. This program is sponsored by the Federal Govern- <br /> ment and we are working with the Falmouth advisors to see <br /> if this same program can become a larger and better one in <br /> coming years. .! <br /> This year we are asking for two full time lifeguards and <br /> two full time attendants to work at both Attaquin Park <br /> Beach and South Cape Beach. <br /> A new baseball field is being planned for 1970. The <br /> money has been available for more than two years but suffi- <br /> cient land was not available. <br /> Once again we are thanking the parents of the town who <br /> have been most helpful with the youth of our town. <br /> Respectfully submitted, L <br /> FREDRICK A.
