58
Report of the Tree Warden
Honorable Board of Selectmen
Town of Mashpee
This is my report for the year ending ending December
j 31, 1969.
Work was done primarily in the fight against the
g gypsy
moth infestation, which is rapidly overspreading the Cape,
I,
according to a recent aerial survey conducted by the Dept.
of Natural Resources. We have approximately 1,000 acres of
woodland somehow affected by gypsy moth; and about
II 24,000 acres in the mid Cape area.
We are hoping for some state funding, but we are not
overly optimistic.
l
I also did some work in eradication of the eastern tent
caterpillar, which wasn't too prevalent last year.
In the area of elm tree work, I had to remove two dis-
eased elms last year, and have two more suspects awaiting
determination from the laboratory of University of Mass.
Ilj
I requested a small increase in my budget for this sea-
i
son, hoping to cover all or most of my expenses.
Respectfully submitted,
ERMEND HENDRICKS,
Tree Warden and Moth Supt.
jl '
!
!
I
i
