Thomas Murphy, Barnstable <br /> Frank Hicks, Mashpee <br /> Board of Selectmen, Town of Mashpee <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> i I hereby submit my annual report of the District Depart- <br /> ' i <br /> ment of Veterans' Services. <br /> For the Town of Mashpee, this department spent $16,000 <br /> on Veterans' Benefits; a total of 25 cases were aided for or- <br /> dinary benefits, medical and nursing homes. <br /> A total of 5,092 people came into the district office in <br /> Hyannis and we tried to solve all of their many problems that <br /> veterans and their dependents encounter. <br /> The Veterans Administration on the federal level use <br /> this office once a month, on the second Thursday, between <br /> the hours of 9:30 A.M. and 1:30, P.M. <br /> Included is a report from the District Investigator, Mr. <br /> Sidney L. Chase which follows: <br /> As the District's Investigator, my main objective is to <br /> follow-up after application, make a report of all casees; this <br /> is to be continued on a regular schedule for as long as the ap- <br /> plicant remains on Veterans' Benefits. For the year 1971, 28 <br /> home investigations were made by this department for the <br /> Town of Mashpee. <br /> Other duties include, on emergency basis only, trans- <br /> portation to various VA hospitals or regional offices, and to <br /> aid Mr. Cross with the daily problems of the Veterans' Service <br /> office. <br /> The Department wishes,to thank the Boards of Select- <br /> men and their various Town Departments for the splendid <br /> cooperation throughout the year. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> i <br /> CHARLES H.
