60 <br /> Report of the Wild Life Conservation Officer <br /> Law Enforcement, Town of Mashpee <br /> To the Honorable Board of Selectmen <br /> and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee <br /> j ; <br /> Greetings: <br /> As we approach the end of the year for 1971 I take great <br /> pleasure in submitting our Wildlife Conservation Department <br /> report for 1971 to the citizens of Mashpee. Although there <br /> {i is still a great deal of work to be done in this area of wild- <br /> life conservation, and for our natural resources, it has been <br /> a pleasure indeed, to have been able to work with the differ- <br /> ent townspeople in the community, in this field of wildlife <br /> conservation and natural resources. <br /> At present, we are working under the direction of your <br /> Town Selectmen and your Mashpee Police Department, under <br /> Chief Bingham,along with the undersigned as wildlife officer, <br /> on different projects for the children of Mashpee. We hope <br /> to continue these programs as they were inaugerated in the <br /> j, year just completed. At this time, I would like to thank <br /> Chief Bingham for driving the school bus for the forty-five <br /> children of Mashpee to attend our annual field trip to Woods <br /> Hole and Martha's Vineyard. I would also like to thank those <br /> members of the Police Department, as well as the parents, <br /> who assisted in making this trip a success. <br /> I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the Town <br /> Selectmen and our Fire Chief, Warren M. Hicks, who is also <br /> the town's Herring Warden, for the establishment of rules <br /> and regulations governing the taking of herring from our <br /> Mashpee herring runs, and for other programs that have <br /> been established for the children of Mashpee as contributed <br /> by the Wildlife Conservation Department. They are the <br /> following: <br /> 1. Wildlife Conservation books, available for the <br /> town children at the Mashpee Library. <br /> 2. Established birdfeeding stations for the <br /> younger children of Mashpee. Bird food and <br />
