116
Report of the Town Landing Committee
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
and the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
Regretfully it must be reported that it has not been
Land-
possible to proceed with the installation of the Town Land-
ing proposed for Ockway Bay. The reasons are as follows:
1.- Reexamination of the proposed site showed that the
j' use of concrete slabs, (on which the estimates of 1974 costs
was based) was not practical. The expense of maintenance,
to correct inevitable tidal erosion, would be too high..
2. The use of the slipway (the provision of which was
the
requested funds in 1974) would inevitably have created
{ an undesirable parking problem on Great Neck Road.
3. During 1974 the Town Landing Committee consisted of
only one active member; this proved to be insufficient. for
any co-ordinated development.
In the
light of the above circumstances, and after con-
Committee it was
he Mash ee Waterways
sultation with t p
reluctantly decided to-return the 1974 allocation of $2,100
to the Town Treasury and seek redirection on this first
I
Town Landing Project.
Respectfully submitted,
i
LOUIS BONITTO
i
I i
 I "
II
I
