i
REPORT OF THE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION OFFICER
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
and Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: t
As we approach the end of our fiscal year, 1975/76, I take great pleasure
to report to the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the Citizens of the Town of
Mashpee, the continued growth of our Wildlife and Conservation Department.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our Junior Assistant
Wildlife and Land Resources Officer, Andrew Quinlan, who has been officially
appointed by our Board of Selectmen, to assist the undersigned. Andrew
Quinlan has patrolled the many areas of Mashpee, including Ashumet Pond,
John's Pond, the Cape and Vineyard Lines, Old Barnstable Road, Moody Pond
and Quashnet and Childs Rivers. He has checked a total of 250 hunting and
fishing licenses since last September. I feel that he has done an excellent
job in controlling the many violations which are part of our growing community.
One major violation that he has discovered is illegal trap hunting, which
is very common in this area. I would like to commend the Board of Selectmen V"
for their foresight in giving me this young assistant who is so willing and 11
eager to do a job well done.
I would also like to thank the Conservation Commission, the Police
Department and all other departments of the Town of Mashpee for the coop-
eration they have extended to us in bringing the many violations of wildlife
and land resources to our attention.
I
As I approach my eighth year of services to the Town of Mashpee, I
would also like to thank the citizens of the Town of Mashpee for their coop-
eration to our Wildlife and Land Resources Department.
Respectfully submitted,
Elio P. Oliva
Wildlife & Land Resources
Law Enforcement Officer
Town of Mashpee
}
I ,
91
