106
Report of the Public Health Nurse
In March, 1955, the Falmouth Nursing Association con-
tracted with the Town of Mashpee, to supply a generalized
nursing service on a one day a week basis. Mrs Ruth Roberts,
R.N., former public health nurse to the town, had resigned
in September 1954 and Miss Mary Susich, R.N. had supplied
the necessary health service in the interim.
An effective service evaluates the health needs of the
community and seeks out the resources that are available,
Due to the limitation of the service to but one day a week,plan-
ning has necessarily been slow.
During the past ten months, a total of 428 visits were
made as follows:
Bedside nursing service 32
Orthopedic 7
Communicable diseases 1
Tuberculosis follow-up 9
Antepartum 9
Postpartum 18
Infant 89
Pre-school 56
School 60
Adult health 82
Interviews 15
Not home 50
Total Visits 428
Four ladies enrolled for two home nursing classes.
j,
Seventeen teen-age girls attended two sessions on health
and good grooming.
1
