32
An attempt was made to "brush" out a larger picnic area
but using hand labor only and with limited funds available,
the area cleared was less than we had hoped for.
We encountered difficulties at Seaconset Beach. Fill
was trucked in and raked to make a beach which the
"Hurricanes" had washed away. Later in the season, a health
menace developed as seaweed piled up upon the beach from
time to time. We did what we could with the help of the
Health Department to alleviate this existing condition.
It is the hope of this department that we may extend
improvements in order to make our beaches and parks more
attractive to all.
We wish to thank all the citizens and officials who have
cooperated with us in administering our department for the
best interest of our community.
Respectfully submitted,
MYRON STUDLEY, Chairman
ELMONT B. TOBEY
V KENNETH COOMBS
i
