i
I
i
20
I
Report of the Shellfish Warden
i
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
I hereby submit my Annual Report for the year ending
i
December 31, 1956.
I have planted 383 bushels of quahogs at Punk Horn in
an area from the southerly end of Gooseberry Island to the
Northerly end of Daniels Island which is posted, including
Ockway Bay.
I have recently met with the Board of Selectmen re-
garding the reopening of these closed shellfish areas which
cannot be reopened until they have been inspected by a
representative of the State Board of Health inasmuch as the
seed quahog were received from a contaminated area and
must pass inspection before the areas can be opened. The
inspection should be made in the near future.
In my line of work, I have also noticed that there is an
abundance of scallop seed in Popponesett Bay, Ockway Bay,
Waquoit Bay, at the entrance to Great River and down Little
River to the southerly end of Hamblins Pond. There is also
a quantity of clam seed in all the areas.
Respectfully submitted,
EDWARD S. TAVARES,
Shellfish Constable
i
i
i
I
i
