Eight children, accompanied by their mothers, <br /> ' were examined at a pre-school clinic in May, by Dr. Alfred <br /> Compton. Others entering the first grade received examina- <br />` tions by their own private physician. <br /> i4 t In April 1958, Dr. Fred Moore did the following number <br /> b <br /> of physical examinations at the school: <br /> I <br /> ik <br /> Grade IV-6 children Grade VIII-4 children <br /> x b 1 Eight students who were new to the school system and <br /> three others, who in the opinion of the teacher and nurse <br /> were thought to need a health appraisal, were also examined. <br /> Hearing and Vision <br /> E All pupils were given the pure tone audiometer test. <br /> There were seven failures, six of whom had had a stationary <br /> b ^` hearing loss for several years. The new failure was seen by <br /> an otologist. <br /> '1 0All pupils were given the Massachusetts vision test. <br /> There was only one failure and she was seen by an ophthal- <br /> mologist. <br /> Notes were sent :home to the parents of the children who <br /> failed either test. <br /> NI <br />
