Minutes of Meeting of
Design Review Committee
Tuesday, February 16, 2021
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Jonathan wanted to confirm that there are no buildings being proposed.
Raul said; no buildings, correct. There will be no signage.
Jonathan mentioned that currently there are new buildings located on
Evergreen Circle; such as Cape Cod Coffee, Cape Cod Dog Center, and
Fairway Lawn Center. These are all new buildings that are landscaped very
nicely. He wanted to know what kind of landscaping is proposed to screen
the yard of materials, etc. from the neighbors that have on going new
businesses.
Raul said that the owner intends to install some flowering low growing trees
along the front on Evergreen. He does not propose to do any landscaping
within the sites, but he will be doing some tree scape along the Evergreen
property line to his contractor's yards.
Jonathan asked about the neighbors on the side. Raul said that the owner
could follow the same idea installing some screening along the sides.
Jonathan would like to know the plan for the sake of the other business on
Evergreen Circle.
Raul said he will ask the property owner about screening and planting along
the street and side property lines. He said it should not be an issue of
concern for the developer. He asked if the Committee would prefer flowering
trees or evergreen trees. He suggested that certain plants should be kept
away from the drainage. He pointed out that one of the lots adjacent to open
space land has some trees. Some trees are being retained on the front of
Evergreen, but could be enhanced with additional trees and along the side
could be aligned with some screening and will coordinate that with the
neighbors.
Jonathan asked if there will be security fencing. Raul said there is no
proposed fencing or gate, but this could be discussed at the ZBA meeting
that will be scheduled at a future date.
Jonathan would like to see a landscape plan. Raul said he will have that
prepared when the application is submitted to the ZBA.
Miles agreed with Jonathan's comments. He would like to see a
continuation of the trees, and suggested possibly some oaks, scrub pines,
white pines, or some native trees to be consistent. He suggested if there is
tree removal within the site, they can be replanted to provide a buffer in the
negative spaces.
3
